The Young Marines is a youth education and service program for boys and girls, ages 8 through completion of high school. The Young Marines promotes the mental, moral, and physical development of its members. The program focuses on character building, leadership, and promotes a healthy, drug-free lifestyle and teaches the value of truthfulness, fairness, respect, courage, attention to duty and love of God and Country. The Young Marines is the official youth program of the U.S. Marine Corps and the focal point for the Marine Corps' Youth Drug Demand Reduction efforts. The Wildomar Young Marines is a challenging, exciting and motivating program that requires commitment to excel.
The Young Marines program is not a summer camp, day care program or military school. If you are looking for a babysitter, don't look here... Please do not expect the Young Marines Staff to raise your child. That is not their responsibility and purpose. Our staff, however, will try to re-enforce standards of good behavior and academic achievement expected by any parent, as well as by society, for their child. We are not a paramilitary group and are not a military recruiting station for any branch of the Armed Forces. Young Marines do not carry weapons and do not receive any form of combat training. The Young Marines is not a "scared straight" or "boot camp" type of program for troubled youths. We are not social workers, so don't expect us to work miracles in behavior improvement or behavior modification with your child. Our staff members are parents just like you, not professionals qualified to handle such issues. While a Young Marine may decide to join the military when he or she turns 18, he or she is under no obligation to do so. Likewise, participation in the Young Marine program does not automatically guarantee acceptance into the Armed Forces. And, while we do receive some financial support from the Marine Corps League, the National Young Marines, and the Marine Corps, we are primarily a self-funded organization and rely on dues, fundraisers and generous donations from our supporters to support our Unit.

The mission of the Young Marine program is to teach our youth the skills of leadership, self respect, respect for others, courage, honesty, and the ability to put the needs of others ahead of themselves. We will also strive to allow the youth to learn to live a drug free life and give them an opportunity to succeed and excel. All of our Young Marines and Recruits will always be treated fairly with dignity and respect. We as adult leaders will only ask our youth to do what we ourselves would do. All Young Marines and Recruits will be allowed to attend scheduled meetings, events, and activities that are purposeful, planned and organized and will always be under the supervision of registered adults.
To accomplish the above mentioned goals, the main key is support! Without the help and support of parents, guardians, and other family members, this program can not survive. All of us adult leaders are volunteers who realize the importance of this program to our most valued treasures, our children, and future leaders. We also need parent support to help with all the programs we would like to offer. Click here to learn about becoming a registered volunteer.
All parents and guardians need to understand that we are not here to baby sit. We are here to provide the opportunity for your children and our children to grow up learning valuable life skills. Our program also offers the opportunity for the children to go to leadership camps, earn scholarships, and go on amazing trips to learn, not only here in the United States, but to other countries, all courtesy of our National Young Marine Headquarters. To accomplish these things, we need your help. Please take some time to invest in your children’s future.
